Verdict

The Outlander isn’t just an important car for Mitsubishi, but for Peugeot and Citroën too, the success of whose badge-engineered SUVs rides on the quality of this product. It’s a shame to report, then, that the Outlander can’t hold its own in its class, even at launch. At its cheapest price the Outlander is an honest soft-roader that isn’t without appeal. At 25 grand, though, it’s not really a contender.
