Verdict
The Mazda 6 is the strong, silent one of the D-segment. You don’t hear much about them, they rarely win group tests yet every time you climb aboard you are struck by how high its overall standard of ability is. The Accord remains our class favourite but if that does not suit for any reason and you’re looking for an alternative to the likes of the worthy but dull Passat, the 6 absolutely deserves its place on your shopping list. It’s attractive, able and understated and should provide many years of high quality and pleasantly engaging motoring.
