Citroën C-Crosser 2.2 HDi

Test Date Wednesday, September 05, 2007  Price When New £25,448

Verdict

 7 stars out of 10

We like the C-Crosser for all sorts of reasons, some of which are predictable, some of which are not. What you won’t be surprised to learn is that we think it’s easily the best looking member of the triumvirate that also includes the Mitsubishi Outlander and Peugeot 4007. What may surprise you (because it certainly surprised us) is just how well resolved the C-Crosser is dynamically — to the point where we’d call it a genuinely pleasant device to drive.

True, the rearmost seats are not the simplest to operate, and some of the cabin materials leave a fair bit to be desired. Neither is the C-Crosser cheap in Exclusive trim. But in judging this car in overall terms it’s hard not to let the positives outweigh the negatives. It may not be the most popular of Citroën’s models in the showroom right now, but it’s certainly one of the best.
