Road Test

Chrysler Crossfire

Test Date Tuesday, March 02, 2004  Price When New £24,995

Verdict

 6 stars out of 10

If your desire is a stylish coupé serving the tactile thrills of a driver’s car, the Crossfire misses the target. As a cruiser it presents a stronger case, supported by that torquey engine – which loses little for being tied to an auto ’box – and a comfortable, quiet cabin. If much of your driving is on broken black-top, however, your tranquility will be threatened by the hard-riding rear tyres. Yet a car this distinctive deserves success and will no doubt find it, despite eclipsing the TT only for freshness and lacking the all-round draw of the 350Z and RX-8.
