Verdict
The M6 is different in character to its four-door cousin, much sharper to drive and look at – so the two cars stand happily beside each other in BMW’s range.
With a bigger fuel tank, better brakes and a less hopeless touring range the M6 would be a full five-star car. As it is it gets four and a half stars, and is still one of the of the greatest cars we’ve driven this year.
