Verdict
Over the years we’ve driven more than a few Audis that have got our hopes up only to disappoint the moment we’ve slipped behind the wheel and put them through their paces. So it’s both a surprise and a delight to find one that turns this trend pretty much on its nose. We weren’t expecting much from the A3 cabriolet, but instead we found it a fun, cleverly conceived and fluently executed drop-top with an impressive engine and surprising practicality.
In the A3 Audi appears to have created a convertible that’s not only pleasant to drive but also easy to live with — and that’s a rarity in this class. In short, if you’re not wedded to the idea of a retractable hard-top or you need a compact convertible that will seat four in something approaching comfort, this is where your search should start.
