Toyota Verso 2.2 D-4D T3 review

Toyota Verso 2.2 D-4D T3

Test date 28 May 2006  Price as tested £18,895

Don’t be confused. What you’re looking at is still the Toyota Corolla Verso but now that the other Versos in the range – namely the Yaris and Avensis – have been deleted – Toyota no-longer needs to distinguish which type of Verso this is, so it has dropped the ‘Corolla’ from its title in the hope that we’ll see it as a model in its own right.

And that’s how it deserves to be seen. This is no slightly swollen hatchback but a genuine mid-sized MPV with much to commend it. Its problem is the raft of younger rivals from the Mazda 5 to the Honda FR-V (not to mention the all new Zafira) that, since the Verso’s launch in 2004, have made this sector of the market so hotly contested.
