Road Test

Toyota Land Cruiser 3.0 D-4D LC4

Test date 20 April 2006  Price as tested £32,715

Land Cruisers are like Timberland boots. They may not look like much but they go anywhere, last forever and will never let you down. Over the years and down the generations they have built up a loyal following and, in very harsh environments such as the interiors of Africa and Australia, they have largely replaced Land Rovers as the indestructible must-have workhorse. This latest generation was launched in 2003 and dropped the ‘Colorado’ moniker used by the previous generation. It was facelifted for 2005 and is now built in nine countries and exported to 127 more.
