Road Test

Suzuki Liana 1.6 GLX

Test date 20 April 2006  Price as tested £10,999

For Cheap and should be reliable

AgainstFeels cheap to go with it. Dynamically poor

It’s one of the most famous cars on the road, yet how many have you actually seen? Whatever its merits or otherwise, the Suzuki Liana will always be remembered as the poor, battered and abused machine subjected to the dubious honour of being thrashed, spun and bumped around the Top Gear test track by an endless succession of celebs in its ‘Star in a Reasonably Priced Car’ slot. But the question left unanswered is whether the car itself is good for anything more than being hurled around a disused airfield in Surrey. It came to us in £10,999, 1.6-litre form with range topping GLX trim.
