Rover CityRover 1.4 Style

For Robustness, pace interior space

Against Price, interior quality, fuel economy, dynamics

Although the Metro, launched in 1980, may not have been the last word in sophistication, it provided Austin Rover with a vital representative in the important supermini sector and sales hit 40,000 in its best years. Even at the end of its commercial life as the Rover 100, it accounted for a third of the company’s sales.

Tata was founded in 1945 as a manufacturer of locomotives, and started building trucks under licence from Mercedes in 1954, entering the car market in 1987. The Indica was launched in the home market in 1999, but poor quality drove down sales after a promising start. Today, with those issues solved, it has become the biggest turnaround success story in Indian automotive history and is now the third best-selling car in India.
