Porsche 911 S review
Porsche 911 2.0 S Road Test
Test date 14 October 1966
Price as tested £3,556
The original 911 contained many features from Porsche’s remarkable racing cars, such as controlled suspension geometry, disc brakes and a flat-six overhead-cam dry-sump engine. Earlier this year we travelled to Hockenheim in Germany to be driven in the latest GT racing car, the Carrera 6, which was powered by a very ‘hot’ version of the same engine. The 911S has 30bhp more than the ordinary 911 (if such a car can ever be called ordinary) and 50bhp less than the racer. And from the moment the engine fires one is left in no doubt of its impressive racing pedigree
