You’ll have guessed before reading a single word of this story that you’re not going to read the phrase ‘class-leading’ any time in the next thousand words. In reality, the Mitsubishi Lancer Estate is about as far removed from the Evolution IX to which it is technically related as the local tabby is from a Bengal tiger. The Lancer’s job is not to impress the hell out of you with either its dynamic or static abilities: it’s to convince a small and rather undiscerning target audience that even the really rather mediocre can be attractive at the right price.
