Road Test

Mitsubishi Evo VI

Test date 24 March 1999  Price as tested £31,940

You’re looking at the UK’s first official Mitsubishi Evo VI, the quasi-rally car that has helped define a generation of performance-car culture in Japan. Until now, Colt Cars UK has not bothered to import Evos, but it has now realised that there are more than just financial benefits to be had from selling these image-building cars. This car’s direct ancestor, the Evo V, was probably the fastest car across country this magazine has driven, bar none. That should make the torquier, lighter, better-braked and brawnier-turbo’d VI nothing if not record-breaking.
