Mini E review

Mini E 150kW

Test date 22 December 2009  Price as tested TBA

For Mid-range acceleration, zero tailpipe emissions, enjoyable handling

Against Very limited range, poor packaging, lazy step-off from a standstill

There are two vital issues to understand with this electric Mini. First, it is a semi-experimental, limited production car, built for field trials in the US, Germany and UK. Second, it can only be considered as a short-distance commuter car, given its range of about 120 miles at best ,or far less if you fail to resist the allure of its performance.

But most commutes come well within the ambit of 100 miles, and if commuting is all you plan to use your electric car for, its spectacularly low running costs might outweigh any range worries.
