The DNA of the ZT 260 goes back to the ’98 launch of the BMW-designed Rover 75, then a highly competitive car and still an attractive, well-built proposition. The MG ZT was the wild-child offspring of the 75, introduced in 2001 after the company had been brought back into British ownership and renamed MG Rover. Styled by Peter Stevens, whose work includes the McLaren F1, it added real purpose to the 75’s undoubted beauty. Cosmetics aside, a tuned 190bhp engine and no-nonsense suspension settings provided a useful drive, too.
