Road Test

Land Rover Station Wagon (55-58) 2.0 3dr

Test date 04 March 1955  Price as tested £935

The Station Wagon is an all-purpose vehicle based on the well-known Land Rover, but in place of the usual canvas top there is a metal body with four tip-up seats in the rear compartment.

First-hand experience with this type of vehicle is always worthwhile. Although weather conditions were hopeless for normal performance testing when George Mackie of the Rover Company telephoned to suggest a trial of the new Land Rover Station Wagon in the snow, we were able to try the car on various surfaces including glazed roads, loose snow and very rough tracks.
