It is probably safe to say that, had Toyota not created the RAV4 at the beginning of the decade, Land Rover might not have bothered with the Freelander. But such was the runaway success of the RAV4, and the sport utility market it tapped into, that Land Rover could not just observe. This, then, is Solihull’s answer to the new breed of non-off-roader from the East.
