Jensen Interceptor review

Jensen Interceptor 7.2 V8 SP

Test date 07 October 1971  Price as tested £6,977

For Steering, stability, ride, brakes

Against Throttle response

The SP version of the Jensen Interceptor extends the range by serving as an additional model, to appeal to the man who is sufficiently more concerned about performance than refinement to value the terrific response which the 7-litre engine gives when all six chokes are wide open.

Other buyers, appreciating the much-improved layout inside, may be inclined to settle for the same thing in the latest FF or Interceptor III. The extra acceleration offered by the SP is somewhat marginal, in fact it is slower to 60mph, but the throaty induction roar that goes with it plus the knowledge that one has one of the biggest car engines available in the UK – or indeed anywhere in the world – makes up for that.
