Fiat Punto 1.3 16v Multijet Active review
Fiat Punto 1.3 16v Multijet Active Road Test
Test date Wednesday, July 30, 2003
Price as tested £9,695
Fiat’s woes have been well reported but, as any carmaker well knows, financial strife mustn’t stand in the way of further product development.
Particularly, as in the case of the Punto, if newer superminis are forcing you from the top seller slot that you’ve made your own.
At first glance Fiat’s solution appears to involve nothing more than grafting some more modern jewel-effect headlamps onto the nose and tidying up the rear styling.
But of much more interest is the arrival of three new engines to the model range that now encompasses 22 different variants. A 95bhp 1.4-litre 16-valve petrol plugs the gap between the 80bhp 1.2 and 130bhp 1.8 HGT and there are two new diesels: a 100bhp 1.9 and a 70bhp 1.3 which we’re testing here.
