Replacing the 348 was never going to be easy for Ferrari. It was obvious enough where the bandages needed to go, but the wounds inflicted by the NSX and latest 911 required major surgery. More serious, even, than the brutal overhaul that turned the spongy Testarossa into the superb 512TR three years ago. The F355 Berlinetta has less work to do to better the charismatic but flawed car it replaces. But while performance and styling will be critical to the car’s success, it is the chassis that must carry the torch for Ferrari.
