Ferrari 550 Maranello review

Ferrari 550 Maranello

Test date 27 November 1996  Price as tested £143,685

Ferrari’s brief for the 550 Maranello wasn’t easy to meet, the hardest part being the need to deliver a modern, comfortable and driveable car that sustained the interest of drivers who’d learned to live with and love the mid-engined Testarossa and gorgeous front-engined Daytona. Those are the cars the 550 must live up to, despite its soothing GT aspirations. Fail to replicate the emotional warmth of the flawed but inspired TR models, and Ferrari will have failed with the 550.
