The city car has come under heavy pressure to justify its existence lately. The arrival of bigger bargain superminis such as Hyundai’s Getz and Skoda’s basic 1.2 Fabia, both of which just duck under the seven grand barrier, has made it harder to justify a city car like the Fiat Seicento which costs only slightly less but sacrifices packaging, safety and ability.
But Daihatsu clearly believes that there’s a place for a car that blurs the boundary between city car and supermini, blending the price advantage and compact dimensions of the former with the passenger space and equipment levels of the latter.
