Caterham R500 review

Caterham Seven xSuperlight R500

Test date 22 March 2000  Price as tested TBA

For Outrageous performance

Against Not exactly practical

The Superlight R500 is the latest and wildest Seven to roll out of Caterham’s Dartford factory. Having bought the rights to Colin Chapman’s Lotus Seven in 1973, Caterham has carefully evolved this unmistakable, superlative sports car over the past two decades. Building on the success of the original Superlight R from 1997, Caterham has now taken the Seven beyond even the mind-bending £37,000 JPE from 1992 to what must surely be its ultimate incarnation.
