Alfa Romeo Alfasud review

Alfa Romeo Alfasud 1.2

Test date 20 September 1973  Price as tested £1,471

For Incredible handling, quiet ride, easy cruising

Against Poor driving position

In the case of the Alfasud, there was time enough for a comprehensively new design, because a small Alfa was planned as long ago as 1954. Production started slowly at first, but has built up now to the stage where there is enough volume for exports to this country of right-hand drive versions.

Because of the long delay after the Alfasud was first shown at the Turin Show in 1971, there is a danger of it being underrated as something not particularly new or advanced. Such judgement would be an error, for in all its dynamic respects the Alfasud sets new standards for front-drive cars.
